内容摘要：

    The Mongol domains of the thirteenth and fourteenth centuries comprised numerous different language groups. How could they communicate? This lecture describes their efforts to do so within China and their creation of the first true government offices in China for translation and interpretation and the problems they faced in doing so. Finally, it describes their efforts to employ a universal written script for many of the languages within their domains.

  十三至十四世纪，蒙古统治下的语言各异的族群之间是怎样交流的？本讲座将阐述蒙元政府为此采取的措施，及其所首创的中国史上职业从事笔译及口译工作的官方机构，及其所面临的问题。最后，本讲座还将论述元政府为境内诸多不同语言，创制一种共同书写形式所做的努力。
